Radio as a hobby, a learning path and a meeting point
LU7DKO is my amateur radio call sign. This website gathers a selection of operating, educational and institutional activities connected with amateur radio.
Over time, the hobby has led to field operations, special events, training of new operators, cultural projects and work with the Radio Club Grupo DX Bahía Blanca.
This English version provides an international entry point to the main projects and archival material. The Spanish version remains the primary and most detailed edition.

Field operations are one of the most engaging sides of amateur radio: reaching an unusual location, installing a station under field conditions and putting that reference on the air.

Gama Island Expedition
In January 2013 I was part of the Radio Club Grupo DX Bahía Blanca team that activated Gama Island using the special call sign L22D.
The island is part of IOTA group SA-022. The expedition was led by Carlos Almirón (LU7DSY, SK) and operated SSB, CW and PSK31 on several HF bands. The operation was later accepted for IOTA credit.

International Museums Weekend
The event is part of the Amateur Radio and Culture project of LU3DXG. Its first edition took place from May 14 to 16, 2010, alongside International Museum Day.
The proposal brings the spirit of International Museum Day into amateur radio by operating stations from museums and heritage sites so their history can be shared over the air. International Museum Day has been promoted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) since 1977, with its first edition held in 1978.
The original project involved Carlos Almirón (LU7DSY, SK) and Carlos Soulier (LU4ETN). A new organizational stage began in 2021 under Marcos Kraser (LU7DKO) and Emiliano Gutiérrez (LW6EGE), focused on continuity, the reference system and gradual international expansion. This later stage continues an existing initiative and does not change its historical authorship.
2026 edition
61 museums / sites
Participation from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Honduras, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
The Spanish edition contains the complete 2026 museum list, detailed rules, permanent references and archival sources.
International tribute · 2026
Carlos Almirón · LU7DSY (SK)
Journalist, teacher, Malvinas veteran and amateur radio operator. Carlos was a founding member of the Grupo DX Bahía Blanca and a central figure in several of its cultural and operating projects.
The LU3DXG tribute award is scheduled for October 20 through November 3, 2026, with participation being coordinated across the Americas and Europe. Special call signs remain subject to authorization by the respective national administrations.

My Argentine amateur radio license is in ENACOM's SUPERIOR category. ENACOM currently lists Novice, General and Superior as the operating categories; Special is a distinction available to Superior-category operators and does not add operating privileges beyond Superior.
I currently serve as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Radio Club Grupo DX Bahía Blanca (LU3DXG). My amateur radio activity also includes training coordination, field operation, DX activity and projects connecting radio with cultural heritage.
